Ten tips for successful blogging
By Eric Girold
Blogging has become a new way of expressing oneself and of making money online. These are perhaps not the most satisfying tips you would find about blogging, but they can be really useful if you want to touch all kinds of audiences. 1. Read before writing. What I mean is that you have to get a deep knowledge about the internet niche you want to fit into. So reading other blogs about the same kind of topics helps a lot. 2. Write several drafts of your article and choose the one that pleases you less. What I mean here is that you tend to repeat the same things all the time. If you write something you are quite puzzled with because its shakes your ordinary writing habits, chances are high that it might be good, and please your readers, too. Avoid conformism at all costs. 3. Listen to music. A lot, and loud, because it might give you a chance to focus your concentration on the job at hand. Then, stop it. You'll feel the positive side of it and your ideas will get clearer. 4. Get a mind-picture of the target audience. Who are you going to write for ? Get to the point and think about what your reader could object to. It is a kind of dialog with him or her. 5. Envision the benefits your article can bring to other less clear-sighted persons. Will it change their way of dealing with the topic you are addressing ? 6. Don't try to be too blunt in your statements. Nobody likes to be taught something the hard way. People prefer to read articles or posts that consider things in a way they would not have thought of. 7. Try to be as clear as possible. Avoid all unnecessary slang or too complicated vocabulary. The best posts must make readers think they are shown the way to knowledge at their own pace. 8. Refer to other posts of yours when possible or to those of other gifted writers when necessary. Don't try to be too humble but pay due respects when they are due. 9. Always let the reader make his own mind after clearly stating shortcomings and qualities of a product, if you are writing about one. What may be useful for someone may not suit somebody else. 10. Time is money. Your readers must think they have not lost anything but gained in insight after reading your posts. That makes blogging such a difficult exercise and good bloggers so rare. |

At first glance, this is a fairly serious intel, but careful reading reveals quirky advice such as choosing the draft you like least, and listening to loud music - this proves that this intel can only have come from eldritch.
